(CHAPEL HILL, N.C.) Nov. 13, 2018 – Grubb Properties has partnered with Carolina Urban Lumber in its eco-friendly plans for the redevelopment of Glen Lennox. Through this partnership, Grubb Properties will upcycle some of the trees being removed during the redevelopment process.
Carolina Urban Lumber, based in Pineville, North Carolina, blends sustainability with art by reducing waste and repurposing local Carolina trees into furniture, décor and more. The company will repurpose some of Glen Lennox’s removed trees into beautiful custom wood pieces, some of which will be installed throughout the community.
This partnership is part of Grubb Properties’ unique approach to redevelop the Glen Lennox community by developing a detailed plan to update and maintain the tree canopy. Plans include carefully mapping out all rare and significant species in the redevelopment area to make sure the diversity of trees is maintained.
This detailed plan employs responsible urban forestry management that will continue for decades, making Glen Lennox a sustainable living space for years to come. Grubb Properties will strategically plant native species within the community throughout the redevelopment process. A maintenance and management program will help to ensure individual tree health and to monitor the overall tree lifecycle.
