It’s Festifall, Y’all
Mark your calendars for noon to 6pm on Sunday, October 7th!
Know
Fall is festive everywhere, but especially in downtown Chapel Hill, home to the 46th Festifall Arts Festival. Come join the community on West Franklin Street, which will be transformed into an extravaganza of art, live music, food and Southern culture.
More than 100 artists from across the Southeast will have their work—including ceramics, jewelry, glass, metals, painting, photography and woodworking—on display. Artists will be vying for a chunk of the $1,100 in prizes up for grabs in this juried exhibition. Study the pieces and take home your favorites!
Amid the colorful sea of artist booths will be three performance venues, where a spectrum of singers, dancers, and comedians will perform all day and into the evening.
Go
From noon to 6pm this Sunday the 7th, Franklin Street closes off in preparation for the noon opening of the festival. Parking is free in the surrounding decks if you’re driving. There are also plenty of places to park your bikes if you’d like to pedal to this party.
Do
The young and the young at heart can make a beeline for the Interactive Zone, where vendors will be offering hands-on experiences like games, a clay-making studio and a traveling display from the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center. As the day progresses, you’ll likely spot the face-painting handiwork of Paint Savvy on the faces of fest-goers young and old.
Once you’ve worked up an appetite, stroll through the Food Truck Court for no fewer than nine mobile dining options. Treat yourself to gourmet-to-go treats like blackened local catfish salad, funnel fries, slow-cooked brined chicken, cilantro jalapeño coleslaw, Maine lobster, Asian dumplings, frozen treats and fresh donuts.
And everyone can bob their heads to the beats of the bands, step and strut with the dancers, or sway with the singers performing at The Erie Main Stage, The 97.9 The Hill Main Stage, and The Pit Chapel Hill Stage.
With summer in the rearview mirror and schools back in session, Festifall gives the entire Chapel Hill community the opportunity to gather downtown and kick off the fall season right. Don’t forget that downtown parking is always free on Sundays—we’ll see you at the fest!
